25 Jul Beginners guide: Color in design sites

An interesting and well developed design is made up of certain elements. This fonts and styling the site engaging content (such as information and graphics), and that, of course, colors.

The choice of color and its ability to orchestrate, or embedded in the structure of the site, is one of the most important tasks in web design.

In this article we consider the basic color (no shades) and methods for their engagement in the work of online resources.

Red

This color characteristic of both negative and positive characteristics. It has long been believed that this color is aggressive feelings, but at the same time makes the focus on the subject. Designers are advised to use the same red in the design not as a key, and the complementary color. It will be good to shade other colors, and will not cause nervousness.

Green

Of course, the color associated with the nature and healthy way of life. In addition, it is considered dynamic and activating manpower. It’s no wonder he secretly considered the “right” to perform any act, just as we pass the way it is on the green.

Black and white

As is known, these two colors are not completely established, and absorb different shades. That’s why they look harmoniously with different colors. For example, sites tend to be minimalist white.

Black is used in the design as a symbol of value and a certain status. But it is important to remember that over-saturation of black components can cause user dissatisfaction, or at all, and depressed mood.

Blue

This color is deep, but at the same time, the dual. Bright shades of blue give visual lightness site interface. The dark, on the contrary help to concentrate.

The blue color is no artificiality, which is so important for the visual perception of the users. Furthermore, this color is endowed with such analogies as an efficient, user-friendly, intuitive, and easy to implement in modern design trends.

Yellow

This color several associations. First, he points to the wealth and material well-being, and secondly, to encourage intellectual pursuits and uplifting. A yellow color can also be accentuates as red. But unlike the second, it has no pronounced negative direction.

How to learn to combine colors?

Previously we mentioned about the book Johanson Itten “The Art of Color”. In our opinion, should be familiar with it as artists and designers.

In the work he presented a theory of Itten color wheel that consists of 12 parts. The colors that make up its foundation: red, yellow, blue. In the process of mixing are obtained even 3: orange, green, violet. Mixing between a primary and secondary color, we get extra color.

Furthermore, there is rule 4 color combinations:

1. Analogy. According to this rule, the three colors are combined adjacent circle.

2. Contrast triad. Selecting one color, and then add the opposite neighboring sectors.

3. Complementarity. More powerful combination, because it does not take the neighboring colors, and sharply opposed to each other.

4. Equidistant. This rule selected color in the circle are equidistant. More often than not choose the main color and two accent.
