11 May Cultural and entertainment center near the old power station in Baku
Erginoğlu & Çalışlar Architects design office building converted old power plant, built back in the 1900s and has long lost its basic function. Let the complex on the bay of Baku vydelyalya on the background of neighboring buildings. Initially it was assumed that architects build a new power plant, but in the course of lengthy discussions with the client, it was decided to preserve and restore the original structure. Intended for cultural and entertaining events next to him was erected a new building.
The new complex was named Elektra. It consists of two buildings connected by a closed bridge, and in front of them is the flag area. The project was implemented in the industrial style, diluted strong contemporary elements. It is a simple geometric volume of zinc and wood with an interesting sloping roof and a wide awning that protects from rain and wind. The interior space is flexible and multifunctional, with high ceilings and open floor plan. There is a restaurant, a jazz club and concert venue.
