Designing the campus of the Polytechnic University of Florida in Lakeland  was engaged office of the eminent spanish architect by Santiago Calatrava. The first building in the heart of the campus has been put into operation recently.

Center of Science, Innovation and Technology located in the middle of an artificial pond, organized rainwater collection water and watering of plants on campus.

The core buildings – is the main hall of Commons ellipsoidal shape with a transparent ceiling, which in a circle bordered by a chain of different rooms: seminar room, laboratories and classrooms of teachers.

From overheating the building is protected by an openwork design of mechanical shutters, which can change their location and density depending on the lighting and the ambient temperature.
