24 Nov Monumental architecture Gottfried Böhm
Gottfried Böhm – architect and sculptor, is the only German winner of the Pritzker Prize (1986).
One of the early works of Böhm – Pilgrimage of the Virgin Cathedral (Mariendom) in town Neviges. The building looks unusual form as a dynamic sculptural group, a unique interior of the cathedral, pierced by rays of light, truly breathtaking.
The material in the works of the architect never dictates form. On the contrary, Böhm overcomes the natural properties of concrete, transforming it into a plastic fabric, creating graceful, expressive compositions.
